You may have noticed cranes all over the beaches and city of Fort Lauderdale as the city skyline is in the process of quite a lot of changes. There are over 37 new developments in Fort Lauderdale at the moment, in varying stages of completion. I reported over the past two years of the severely constricted inventory in the condominium market, and in response to the sustained domestic and international demand, developers have rushed to build some truly incredible preconstruction properties.

The South Beach Food and Wine Festival is launching in Fort Lauderdale as Taste Fort Lauderdale Series in 2016 from February 24 to February 28. This is one of the nations leading culinary events and a welcome event in Fort Lauderdale. They had one event last year in order to test the market and found it a perfect venue. The kickoff event will be called Seaside Eats and will be the first event of the South Beach Food and Wine Festival. It will be hosted by celebrity Chef Robert Irvine and will be held at the historic Bonnet House, which is close to The Corinthian, one of my top producing condominiums. The event will feature signature dishes from Fort Lauderdale’s most prized chefs from Steak 954, Louie Bossi’s Restaurant, S3 Restaurant, Wild Sea Oyster Bar and Grille, Himmarshee Public House, and more.

Another drive of the events in Fort Lauderdale will be to showcase some of Fort Lauderdale’s top resorts including new developments. Napa chefs Roberty Curry and Paul Lemieux will serve a dinner at Auberge Residences and Spa, which will open formally in 2017. The Ritz Carlton will also host a Bloody Mary Brunch with the cast of the popular cooking show “Chopped.” Tickets are not yet on sale, but buy them fast, these events frequently sell out! Icon Las Olas construction has at long last resumed. This project was approved in 2005 and was in limbo due to a legal situation with neighbors and then halted due to the lack of demand, however the project is moving full steam ahead and this ultra luxury condominium is releasing preconstruction pricing. Standing 57 stories with 272 residences, this is one of the best locations in Downtown Fort Lauderdale and it is at 500 East Las Olas Boulevard on the New River.
