In the waterfront condominium real estate business, smaller square footage means the little things really count in terms of value and amenities. The powder rooms and master baths can really attract the luxury waterfront buyer and the focal point of a master bath is the tub. The whirlpool bath can add appeal to a home and the materials considered desirable have changed. Gone are the days of the claw footed tubs in only one style and material, today there are a number of durable, luxurious, and functional options to choose from.

Acrylic: Acrylic tubs are slightly more expensive than fiberglass, however they are more durable and come in a vast array of finishes. This is a very popular and versatile choice for those remodeling.

Cultured Marble: These beautiful tubs are less expensive than acrylic and also come in a number of shapes sizes and colors. These are more durable than fiberglass and rarely scratch. A marble tub can make an incredible statement in the corner of your bath and does have time tested appeal.

Ceramic Tile: These tubs vary more widely in style, color, and shape than any other tub. They are favored among interior designers expressly for their versatility. The only potential maintenance issue you may face is the cleaning of grout, however, many advancements have been made in this department as well!

Stone and Wood: These tubs can be made with a variety of natural stones and are desirable for luxury homes, however they are extremely heavy, so it is very important that you have a sound structure to place them on. Often one they are one of a kind tubs and wood are available in teak and walnut with marble and travertine inlay. These are certainly statement pieces!

Fiberglass: Fiberglass tubs are the least expensive option, as they are light weight and installation is a snap. Some downsides are that i they are thinner, and may fade with time. However, this is an excellent option for those looking to fix up a property to rent.

Porcelain: Porcelain is another inexpensive option and its application is with a thin layer of steel and finished with porcelain. Porcelain maintains its’ finish and is more durable than fiberglass, and is very popular. It is also heavier than fiberglass, but there is potential for chipping.
