Downtown Fort Lauderdale has incredible attractions, from shopping to dining, and of course, it has some of the most coveted real estate in South Florida. In order to showcase this area, Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale and Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment have come together to launch 80 days of Holidays Downtown. The events kick off on November 1,2012 and last through January 22, 2013. These efforts engage and benefit Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale, Museum of Discovery and Science, Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Historic Stranahan House Museum, Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Las Olas Association, Downtown Development Authority, Riverwalk A &E District, and Sun Trolley. The schedule of events highlights each of the unique aspects of these organizations. All sorts of events will be offered including art exhibitions, comedy shows, fundraising events, holiday lighting ceremonies, film openings, and much more.
Genia Duncan Ellis, CEO of Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale, commented regarding this cross cultural efforts saying “Creating this calendar was important because it is the continuation of an ongoing partnership to provide a collective resource to the community. We are delighted that the partners were able to work together and successfully compile and produce a list of fun and exciting events that all occur within the Greater Downtown Area. We hope it will serve as an invaluable tool for locals and visitors alike in planning holiday events and outings this season.” This is very exciting news for Fort Lauderdale and it should certainly add to an already vibrant holiday season.
